Privacy Policy
Pheme turns speech into notes. To do that, some of what you say and write has to leave your device. This page says exactly what does, where it goes, and how to remove it.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name and email address and nothing else.
- Your notes. Transcripts, summaries, titles, the notes you type, folder names, and — when you connect a calendar on the Mac — the title and attendee names of the meeting a note belongs to. These are stored on Pheme's servers so your notebook is the same on every device you sign in to.
- Usage. How many minutes you transcribe and how much text the models process for you, per account. This is what your plan's limits and billing are based on.
Audio
While you record, audio is sent to Pheme's servers in short pieces and passed to a speech-recognition model that returns text. The audio is not stored — not on our servers and not on your device. Once a piece has been transcribed, it is gone; only the text remains.
AI processing
To write titles, summaries, and answers to the questions you ask about a note, Pheme sends the transcript and your notes to third-party AI model providers, which return the result. We do not use your audio or notes to train AI models. Text goes to a provider only to produce the result you asked for.
Sharing
Nothing you record is visible to anyone else unless you share it. When you share a note, it is visible to anyone with the link, or only to the people you invite by email — your choice, per note. You can stop sharing at any time, and the page goes away.
Payments
Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; Pheme never sees them.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad tracking, no analytics SDKs in the apps.
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We do not read your notes, except when you send one to us for support.
Recording other people
Pheme records the microphone and, on the Mac, the audio of the meeting you are in, and shows a visible recording state while it does. Laws on recording conversations vary by place; you are responsible for getting the consent your jurisdiction requires from the people you record.
Where your data lives, and for how long
Pheme's servers run on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Your notes stay for as long as your account exists. Audio is not retained at all.
Deleting your account
On iPhone, open the account menu in the notebook and choose Delete account. Or email [email protected] from the address you signed up with. Deletion removes your account and every note on Pheme's servers right away; it is not reversible. Notes kept on a Mac stay on that Mac until you delete them there.
Children
Pheme is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it, and the new text is published here.
